As much fun as a day at the beach!
We're happy to report that at our first ever themed Braille Challenge - A Day at the Beach - we managed to have our first snow-free event in three years! Twenty-one students from across British Columbia participated in the 2020 British Columbia Regional Braille Challenge - one of our largest groups yet, with 12 students participating in the Foundational Category. Thanks to all our of parents/guardians, teachers, braille transcribers, and our friends from SET-BC, Blind Beginnings and the CNIB Foundation for making it an extra special day for all! Photos from the day are posted below along with photos from previous events. Looking forward to the International Braille Challenge in Los Angeles in June!
In addition to the five standard competition categories, the BC Regional Braille Challenge invites students who are using braille at more foundational/functional levels to participate in the Foundational Category. Foundational materials are created in consultation with the student's Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments to ensure that the event is fun, meaningful, and challenging for each student. When registering a student for the Foundational Category, please indicate clearly on the registration form. Our content development team will be in touch for more information on the student's literacy profile and preferred content.
