UEB Frequently Asked Questions

Listed below are our most frequently asked questions. If you cannot find the question you have in mind listed here, please contact the PRCVI team at info@prcvi.org and one of us will respond promptly.

If I take the free CNIB UEB Update course will it update my Braille and Proof reading certification?
Yes, the CNIB update course will cover both the Contracted Grade 2 Literary Braille Course and the Proof Reading Certification if you have it.
I am an adult wanting to learn Braille, so should I learn UEB or EBAE?
The answer to this depends on the grade of the students you will be supporting. Most new EAs or teachers should learn UEB, but you can refer to Timelines at a Glance - UEB Implementation for Students as there will be exceptions. Please contact your vision teacher or discuss with PRCVI Outreach Coordinators for more information ehsieh@prcvi.org.
I have a student in grade 10, should they learn UEB now?
This depends on a number of factors and one important thing to consider is Provincial examinations. In the initial stages of the roll out examinations will not be available in UEB, therefore students in the higher grades should continue with EBAE and Nemeth.
